Volleyball Alberta Announces 2026 Hall of Fame Inductee

Volleyball Alberta is proud to name Harvey Penhale, Referee as the 2026 Volleyball Alberta Hall of Fame Inductee.

For more than 50 years, Harvey Penhale has served Alberta’s volleyball community with distinction. From athlete to one of the province’s most respected referees and mentors, Harvey has consistently demonstrated excellence, leadership, and integrity. As a result, his influence has shaped generations of players, officials, and leaders.
Moreover, as a nationally certified official and longtime Volleyball Alberta leader, Harvey has played a pivotal role in advancing referee development across the province. Through education, mentorship, and hands‑on leadership, he has guided and supported hundreds of officials throughout their officiating careers.
Harvey leads with fairness, maintains a calm presence, and shows unwavering commitment to the game. Consequently, his impact extends well beyond the court. His contributions have strengthened officiating standards and enriched the volleyball community, securing his place among the most influential referees in Volleyball Alberta’s history.
Each year, the Volleyball Alberta community recognizes individuals through both the Mikasa Achievement Awards & Hall of Fame Banquet, respectively. The Hall of Fame program celebrates outstanding contributions in the categories of Athlete, Builder, Coach, Team, and Referee.
