Indoor Volleyball encompasses a wide variety of programming. As such, Volleyball Alberta has divided this category into three main groups based on the ages of our participants: Under 12 Indoor, Youth Indoor, and Adult Indoor.
Our goal is to offer programs that comply with the Canadian Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Model- please refer the the LTAD page for more information about this model.
Under 12 Indoor programs are recreational in nature and are offered at the community level for youth between 5 and 12 years of age. Two of these programs, mini-volleyball and Atomic volleyball, are programs that have been developed by Volleyball Canada and are offered across the country.
For participants between the ages of 12 and 18 years, the Youth Indoor category is our most popular age group. Programming for this age group includes our 13U-18U Club system, high school volleyball, and the 15U/16U Canadian West Open National tournament that Volleyball Alberta has hosted for the past twelve years.
For volleyball players over the age of 18, the majority of programming in Alberta is run by private organizations in the form of leagues. However, Volleyball Alberta hosts a very competitive Provincial Championship tournament for the 21U, Senior, and Masters age groups.
