Frequently Asked Questions

To register for Team Alberta activities, you must have a Sportlomo User Login and the appropriate Volleyball Alberta membership for the current season. Athletes must have a Competitive Membership for the discipline they are competing in, Indoor or Beach.
How to Register Guides

Once you have a valid login and membership, find the event you are registering for on the Volleyball Alberta Events pagePlease note many Team Alberta events are “Invite only”.

For athletes who are eligible and/or invited for two different age categories, we recommend attending the age category that falls within the 16month window and aligns with the athlete’s current grade level.

For example:

  • 15U Athletes born in September 2010 or later, Grade 9
  • 16U Athletes born in September 2009 or later, Grade 10
  • 17U Athletes born in September 2008 or later, Grade 11

If an athlete is invited to participate in two age categories, they only need to attend one (1) ID camp and will still be considered for selection in both age groups.

In some ways, yes.

  • Athletes are invited to self-identify for Team Alberta Beach by registering for the Selection Camp through Sportlomo.
  • Athletes are also welcome to create a GMTM profile, but this is an optional step for beach-only athletes.
  • All registered athletes are eligible to attend the Selection Camp and will be notified by end of the camp if they have been selected for Team Alberta Beach.

Athletes that applied to GMTM by the March 1 deadline were reviewed to be invited to the in-person ID Camps on March 7-8.  After those camps, there are 2 waves on invitations:

  • Wave 1 –  April from assessment through ID Camps and VA Premiers.
  • Wave 2 –  in May based assessment through GMTM submission, VA Premiers/Provincials and VC Nationals.
  • 15U & 16U athletes are selected directly to the July Training Centre
  • 17U athletes are selected to a final tryout in June

Due to the volume of GMTM applications, we are unable to provide individual responses regarding why an athlete was not invited to an ID camp or selected to a training group or team. Athletes in attendance at any in-person selection process (eg. ID Camps, training centre, 17U tryout) will receive feedback.
