Meet Volleyball Alberta’s Team Alberta Coaches 

Ryan Marsden, Team AB 17U Boys Head Coach:   
• Returning for his 7th year as a Team Alberta Coach  
• Currently Head Coach of Olds College men’s volleyball   
• Head Coach for the SAIT Trojans Men’s Team from 2007 – 2012  
• ACAC Coach of the Year 2008-2009, 2018-2019, 2021-22  
• CCAA Coach of the Year 2021-22   
• Head Coach of the 2009 Team Alberta Men’s team that won AB’s first ever Gold medal at Canada Games- PEI  
• Assistant Coach for the National B Team 2007  
• Assistant Coach- NextGen Men’s National Team in 2019.   
• Head Coach – U21 Men’s Junior National Team 2020-2021  
• Volleyball Alberta 2005 Male Coach of the Year  
• Tachikara Volleyball Canada 18U Male Coach of the Year- 2005   
 “Couldn’t be more excited to be able to work with our Alberta Youth in their volleyball journey. We have an extremely talented team this year and hope to implement skills and systems to best prepare us for the Canada Cup this summer and this Canada Games cycle. I am honored to represent TA, coach with Jace Barros and to work with the incredible talent that we have been blessed to have.”   

Jace Barros, Team AB 17U Boys Assistant Coach:  
• Returning for his 4th year as a Team Alberta Coach  
• Former Assistant Coach of the UofA Golden Bears   
• Coached with FOG for 12 years  
• Coach with NAVC for 4 years  
• Volleyball Alberta Mikasa Coach of the Year 2012 and 2013  
 “I am very excited to work and learn alongside Ryan Marsden this summer with a very talented 17U age class” 

Dione Kristel , 17U Girls Head Coach:   
• Making her debut as a Team Alberta Coach this year  
• Played her collegiate career with the UofA Pandas  
• Member of Canada’s 2015 FISU team  
• Past Head Coach of Concordia University women’s volleyball  
• Coached numerous club teams 2010 – 2019  
• Played for Team Alberta 2006 – 2009  
• Competed at the 2009 Canada Summer Games  
 “I am excited to have the opportunity to work with an extremely talented group of athletes and make this summer one to remember in preparation for Canada Cup and the Canada Games in 2025.”  

Brian Kim, 17U Girls Assistant Coach:   
• Returning for his 3rd year as a Team Alberta Coach   
• Coach with NAVC for 9 years   
• Coached numerous high-school teams to city and provincial medals  
 “I am thrilled to join Team Alberta, collaborating with such talented athletes as we gear up for the Canada Cup (this summer) and the Canada Games next summer. The dedication and skill of this team inspire me, and I can’t wait to contribute to their preparation and success on this exciting journey.” 

Kyle Erickson, 15/16U Boys Black Head Coach:   
• Returning for his 4th year as a Team Alberta Coach  
• Played his collegiate career with the Grande Prairie Regional College Men’s Volleyball Team   
• Coach with NAVC for 4 Years, Club coach for 11 years  
• Assistant Coach with the UofA Golden Bears for 6 years  
• Volleyball Alberta 2024 Mikasa Performance Coach of the Year  
“I am looking forward to training with and learning from a new group of athletes. It will be super exciting to work with the larger 15u/16u group for the first time this year and I cannot wait to begin!” 

Sherwaine Arthurs , 15/16U Boys Black Assistant Coach:   
• Making his debut as a Team Alberta Coach  
• Coach with Fog Volleyball Club for 3 years  
• Director of Volleyball Operations for FOGG  
• Currently Assistant Coach with the UofA Golden Bears  
• Holds a Masters degree in Coaching from UofA   
• Assistant Coach- St. John’s College Volleyball 10 years  
• Former Jamaica National Team Player  
“I am excited to coach 1516U team AB this summer, where I look forward to learning and using my knowledge and experience to aid in the growth, development, and success of the team. Additionally, I am eager to interact with players, coaches, and mentors, fostering a collaborative and competitive environment.” 

Vinny Saporito , 15/16U Boys Blue Head Coach:   
• Returning for his 2nd year as a Team Alberta Coach   
• Currently an Assistant Coach with the UofA Golden Bears, 2022+2024 National Champions  
• Head Coach of the Mohawk College Mountaineers 2018- 2020  
• Volleyball Alberta 2022 Mikasa Performance Coach of the Year  
• Head Coach of NAVC 17 – 2022 Volleyball Canada 17U National Champions  
• Head Coach of Alberta Jumplete 18 – 2023 USA Volleyball 18U National Champions  
“I am looking forward to working with the top 15/16U athletes in Alberta.” 

Graham Walkey , 15/16U Boys Blue Assistant Coach:   
• Making his debut as a Team Alberta Coach this year   
• Played his collegiate career with the UFV Cascades men’s volleyball team   
• Assistant coach with the UofA Golden Bears   
• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Coaching at UofA   
“I’m excited to join the legacy of excellence at Volleyball Alberta and looking forward to seeing the next generation of great athletes develop.” 

Tashie Macapagal, 16U Girls Black Head Coach:   
• Returning for her 4th year as a Team Alberta Coach   
• Played her collegiate career with the UofA Pandas winning 4 National Championships  
• Coach with Pandas Volleyball Club for 8 years  
“I am excited to have the opportunity to work with a talented group of athletes once again. I can’t wait get back on the court with these high-performance athletes and coaches” 

Chelsea Markowski, 16U Girls Black Assistant Coach:   
•  Making her debut as a Team Alberta Coach this year  
• Played ACAC at The King’s University College  
• Assistant Coach with The King’s University College  
• Coach with Barrhead Knights for 2 Years  
• Coached with FOG Club for 2 years  
“I am excited to be a part of Team Alberta’s high-performance training that will grow the skills of these elite athletes. In addition, I am excited to be working with so many talented coaches.” 

Kat Dolguikh, 16U Girls Blue Head Coach:   
• Making her debut as a Team Alberta Coach this season   
• Played her collegiate career with Simon Fraser University   
• Currently an Assistant Coach with the UofC Dinos women’s team  
• Team BC beach volleyball (North American Indigenous Games) head coach (silver medal – 16u)  
• 7 years with BCO volleyball club (North Vancouver)  
• North Vancouver REP head coach 2021-2023  
“I am excited to work with new athletes and establish a high-performance training environment where everyone can work toward their technical and tactical goals. Additionally, I am so excited to learn from my fellow coaches and expand my own toolbox.” 

Grace McKale , 16U Girls Blue Assistant Coach:   
• Returning for her 3rd year as a Team Alberta Coach   
• Played her collegiate career with the University of Ottawa Gee-gee’s
• Team Alberta Beach Head Coach U16 Boys 2022  
“I am looking forward to another summer working with the next generation of athletes and learning from some excellent coaches in the high-performance environment created by Team Alberta.” 

 Kim Bishop, 15U Girls Head Coach:   
• Making her debut as a Team Alberta Coach this year    
• Coach with Fort McMurray Thunder for 3 years  
• Coach with Ecole McTavish Marauders (2 time city champs and 2 time zone finalist)  
• Assistant Coach – Peak Athletic Volleyball Academy for 2 years  
“I am thankful for the opportunity to work with new athletes and becoming a part their volleyball journeys this summer with Team Alberta.  I am looking forward to working in a high-performance setting with elite athletes, coaches and mentors.” 

Fauve Welsh, 15U Girls Assistant Coach: 
• Returning for her 2nd year as a Team Alberta Coach   
• Played her collegiate career with the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens 
• Coach with Canuck Volleyball Club for 5 years  
• Head Coach of SAIT Trojans Womens volleyball team  
“I am so excited to get to work with the u15 girls this year. This will be the first provincial team experience for most of them so it will be very exciting to be a part of that journey. Athletes at this age are such sponges so I can’t wait to see what they absorb.” 

The Team Alberta Training Camp will begin on July 7th and run until the 22nd. By July 13th, the 15U and 16U programs will have further evaluated athletes and solidified their finalized competition team rosters. After this training period, all teams will showcase their skills at the Canada Cup in Calgary, taking place at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Jim Starlight Centre from July 24th to the 28th.
